Abed: Sometimes, I like to pour hot cocoa mix into cold milk and drink it like a cold hot chocolate. I call it Special Drink.

Community 1.08 - Home Economics

Okay, so I got caught up on this show between last night and this morning (I have no life, clearly) and here is what I have to say:

• I think I’m in love with it.
• Abed is hilarious.
• The Halloween episode was the best.
• I nearly died when I fell off my bed while laughing at the last 5 minutes of said episode.
• Joel McHale, do me now.

First of all, I completely missed the “Special Drink” lines. For years, I’ve been putting Swiss Miss cocoa mix into cold milk and drinking it as is. I always enjoyed it because, aside from the chocolate-flavored milk, a lot of the mix would rise to the top, creating a thick top layer of moistened powder, which I would consume with a spoon. No one else ever seemed to do this, so this reference makes me smile. Henceforth, it shall be called “Special Drink.”

And second, I’m shocked that it’s taken you this long to watch the show, Wendy. Shocked. It’s actually taken me a while to fully warm up to it, as the first few episodes struck me as being merely “okay.” The last few episodes however, especially last night’s, have cemented Community as something that I like very much.

(All right, I’m talking too much, but I need to make a third point: Chevy Chase was hilarious in the most recent episode. Over the years, I’ve come to think of him as a has-been, since he hasn’t done much of note in recent years and, well, that’s how everyone else seems to think of him. But dammit, if last night’s episode is any indication, the man still has it. A lot.)

I think Chevy Chase is starting to get back into his old groove. He’s really hit his stride with Community but I thought he was great in his recent appearances on Chuck.
